Quiet Work

Most people will never see the work you put in behind the scenes. The internal wrestling all night long. The hours of praying. The steady and quiet discipline of studying the Word of God. The years of heart transformation that lead to character development. The submission to the Holy Spirit moment after moment. The costly obedience.

The world tells you to make yourself known. Show off. Be loud about your success and your talent. Prove that you achieved a lot.

But we’re on a silent grind. Praying behind closed doors. Giving generously and anonymously. Doing the grunt work. We’re resolved to deny the flesh’s need for recognition, because we know that our reward is eternal. We have a greater glory that awaits us— immeasurably more than anything we could grasp in our hands. We believe that when we seek first God’s kingdom, everything else will be added.

I hope this encourages whoever needs to hear it— that God sees the sacrifices you make, even when no one else does. And he knows your heart. Keep pressing into the work he is doing in you and through you, because what he has in store for you is so much better than any human’s recognition.
